HELIOS 450 V3 testing
Well, flying in the gym is over for the season and it's time too get the 450's out and test them. Right now i'm testing the HELIOS 450 V3 by Gootch RC. I must say i'm very impressed with this heli so far. We are running the Blue Arrow D10012MG on the cyclics and the D26010 on the tail. The motor is a 4000 kv Xtreme Spin motor with a Pentium 40A esc. The battery and gyro are both prototypes. So far i've got about 10-12 flights on it and this combo seems to work very well. All of these electronics will be available soon.
One thing that has impressed me the most on the V3 is the Black King metal tail assembly. If you haven't seen it yet you need to check it out. It has a dual pivot point on the pitch slider which makes this pivot smoother than any tail I've ever seen. This tail has almost no slop too it at all.
The first flight I put on this I couldn't believe the power the Xtreme Spin motor had. I told Rick we were probably going to have to lower the pinion a little bit, cause the headspeed seemed way to high. I lowered the throttle curve a little bit now seems much better. I am trying to put as many flights on this thing as possible too see how well it holds up, and so far so good. I will keep you updated on this heli as we are testing different servo, battery, blade combos on it. I'll have updated video's on it as well.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop Justin. I am going to spool up my new 450SE V2 tomorrow after I install my brand new Spektrum AR6210 DSM X rx on her. I have to say this is one beautiful heli... I know I will have hours of fun with her as long as keep my flying simple for the first month or so. I just know that my hands will be shaking again when I feel the power of a 450 size heli again. I might get the $50 "Black King" tail for her when I get more comfortable with her. I will look forwar
